Division of Boating and Waterways Local Assistance Surrendered and Abandoned Vessel Exchange Grant Program FY26

Purpose: Improve public and navigational safety and reduce environmental damage. Description: This program provides funding for abatement, removal, storage and disposal as a public nuisance of abandoned recreational vessels and/or the destruction of surrendered recreational vessels that may become a threat to navigation. Eligibility Requirements Eligible Applicants: Public Agency Local government agencies (counties, cities, port districts, and/or other special districts) that have citation authority over their area of responsibility. Eligible Geographies: California navigable waterways Matching Funding Requirement: Grantees contribute 10 percent cash or in-kind match. Important Dates Application deadline The date (and time, where applicable) by which all applications must be submitted to the grantmaker. Time listed as “00:00” equates to midnight. 4/30/26 15:00 Expected award announcement The date on which the grantor expects to announce the recipient(s) of the grant. August Period of performance The length of time during which the grant money must be utilized. 24 months Funding Details Total estimated available funding The total projected dollar amount of the grant. $1,000,000 Expected number of awards A single grant opportunity may represent one or many awards. Some grantors may know in advance the exact number of awards to be given. Others may indicate a range.
