About this opportunity

The Office of Ecology and Natural Resource Conservation of the Bureau of Science (OES) at the Department of State announces a Request for Applications for management of the project entitled, “Establishing a Global System of Regional Wildlife Networks: Providing Support for the Central America Wildlife Enforcement Network (CAWEN).” The aim is to establish a regional wildlife enforcement network for Central America (CAWEN) improve communications among the relevant stakeholders, and set the foundation for the integration of a CAWEN database with that of other wildlife law enforcement networks. The Grantee and its partners (if any) will work collaboratively with OES, the Embassies in the region, Department of the Interior, Department of Justice and relevant Central American countries’ government offices, as appropriate, to develop a regional network to interdict illegal wildlife trade in Central America. The Department of State will award one grant, for up to $297,000 in FY2009 Economic Support Funds. The Grantee is expected to provide cost sharing, which may include in-kind contributions, as described in the Proposal Submission Instruction or PSI. Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) and International Organizations (IOs) with experience described in Sections 1 and 3, and Appendix A1.1 are encouraged to submit proposals.
