About this opportunity

Each autumn FACT opens up another round of Fund-A-Farmer grants to support high based livestock and poultry farmers. Eligible projects are awarded to farmers transitioning away from confinement, improving pastures and generally improving the well being of their food animals. This year our Systems and Innovations grants will specifically fund grants for farms looking to: - Install the infrastructure necessary to convert from a non-pasture to a pasture-based operation. - Adoption of alternative breeds including sourcing genetics, housing accommodations, feed changes, marketing (For example: Farms who would like to switch from conventional breeds of poultry to higher welfare slower growing or heritage breeds)

Who can apply

You can apply for either of FACT's Fund-a-Farmer grant or both. If you are luckily enough to be awarded both grants you will only receive funding for one. Refer to the grant guidelines page for additional details and overview of application questions. Our Fund-a-Farmer grants are very competitive as such, each farm or individual can only be awarded a grant once every 2 years. This means if you received a grant in 2026 you’ll need to sit this year out, you to apply for a Systems & Innovation Grant if your project fulfills the criteria.

Geographic eligibility

Open to applicants nationwide unless the agency narrows it.
