Each autumn FACT opens up another round of Fund-A-Farmer grants to support high based livestock and poultry farmers. Eligible projects are awarded to farmers transitioning away from confinement, improving pastures and generally improving the well being of their food animals. FACT will fund around 60 $3,500 Fund-a-Farmer grants for one of the following project types (see webpage for additional details): For farms looking to… - Improve the lives of their farm animals. - Grants for farmers pursuing animal welfare certification to specific certifying agencies - Grants for animal welfare certified farmers. We will stop accepting Fund-a-Farmer Welfare Grant applications once we receive 300 eligible applications.

Who can apply

On-farm projects must impact beef chickens, dairy , and/or turkeys. Eligible expense categories generally include costs, professional hired labor costs. Funds will not be awarded to non-profit organizations; operational expenses such as land; and projects related to the slaughter of animals. Our Fund-a-Farmer grants are very competitive as such, each farm or individual can only be awarded a grant once every 2 years. This means if you received a grant in 2026 you’ll need to sit this year out, you to apply for a Systems & Innovation Grant if your project fulfills the criteria.

Open to applicants nationwide unless the agency narrows it.
