Growing Roots: Hub Startup Grant

The Growing Roots Grant supports new and established producer hubs as they establish their operations, build foundational systems, and develop early market relationships. To be considered for the Growing Roots grant, applicants may be either a new or an established hub that is looking to invest in either starting or growing their hub's operation for the benefit of their local agricultural community. Categories of acceptable expenses include but are not limited to: i. Personnel/hub administrator salary ii. Federal and state business incorporation fees iii. Marketing/advertising/sales iv. Physical market rent v. Cooler setup and other infrastructure vi. The Gardener's Workshop Collectives 101 on-demand course Grant recipients who are new to Rooted are gifted a one-year Rooted Farmers Essentials for Hubs subscription, plus a $100 subscription discount per grower. (Note: Stripe, credit card/electronic payment, and platform transaction fees are the responsibility of the seller.)

- US-based hubs - Producer hubs in their first 0–3 years of operation - Groups comprised of 4+ producers - At least half of member farms should have 3+ years of growing/production experience - Proposed projects should demonstrate a clear benefit for the farms operating within the collective/cooperative selling operation All hub members are required to complete The Gardener's Workshop's Collectives 101: A Guide to Joining and Selling Through Regional Wholesale Hubs on-demand course as part of the program.
