About this opportunity

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to invite applications to participate as the National Data Management Center (NDMC) for the NIH Stroke Trials Network. Established by NINDS in 2013, the goal of the NIH StrokeNet is to harness the leadership and experience of the stroke research field to maximize efficiencies for developing, promoting and conducting high-quality, multi-site clinical trials focused on promising interventions for stroke recovery with the objective of having a balanced portfolio between all three approaches. Multi-site exploratory and confirmatory Phase 3 clinical trials as well as biomarker-validation studies that are immediately preparatory to trials and ancillary studies designed to add scientific aims to active studies will be coordinated through a National Coordinating (NCC) and National Data Management Centers (NDMC) and multiple regional coordinating stroke centers (RCC's) with strong collaborative relationships between vascular neurology, emergency medicine, interventional rehabilitation, and pediatric neurology. The network will provide a accessible infrastructure to provide the development and implementation of protocols in stroke recovery. The NDMC will be responsible for centralizing, harmonizing and coordinating all aspects of data collection for studies conducted in the network. Projects will be developed both from investigators both within the network as well as from investigators or industry partners outside of the network; therefore the data center for the stroke network must be able to efficiently collaborate with all parties. This FOA solicits applications for the National Data Management Center for the Stroke Trials Network. Separate FOAs solicit applications for the Regional Coordinating Stroke Centers and the National Coordinating Center.
