About this opportunity

The purpose of this program is to strengthen human resources for health and clinical capacity in HIV care and treatment by providing support to public university medical education and postgraduate training programs in Guyana. Developing this capacity locally will contribute to the PEPFAR II goals of increased local government ownership, leadership and management of the response to HIV/AIDS that are embodied in PEPFAR II. The program seeks to provide a cadre of high quality graduates through revision of curricula, faculty development, supervision of clinical mentoring programs and practicums, limited purchase of teaching and reference material and purchase of equipment for clinical practicums .This program fits into Guyana’s broader strategy for Human Resources for Health Capacity development which includes integration of HIVinto primary care and training of other categories of health workers to provide HIV care and treatment. In addition, this program will increase the capacity of the the Health Sciences Faculty at University of Guyana for infectious disease training of all health science students.
