About this opportunity

As the fight against HIV/AIDS continues in Rwanda, the number and quality of laboratory technicians needed to support clinical services have increased. In order for Rwanda to address its future needs, laboratory technicians must be trained on newer technologies using improved laboratory processes. This award will support the Kigali Health Institute, the institute responsible for training laboratory technicians, to strengthen the masters-level laboratory training program. Specifically this project will support building and improving the capacity of faculty to train laboratory technicians to perform laboratory testing and provide quality patient care and health management required to support HIV/AIDS programs in Rwanda. It will also strengthen the health educational system to close gaps that exist in current training programs and make the curricula more relevant and applicable to the national HIV/AIDS program by integrating more HIV/AIDS material and increasing practicum options to include projects of national and local importance on HIV/AIDS.
