About this opportunity

The African Health Professions Regional Collaborative (ARC) will support policy, education and clinical practice efforts to improve the delivery of HIV services at priority, high volume sites across 18 sub-Saharan African countries. ARC has special focus on HIV care and treatment delivered to pregnant and breastfeeding women and children, including adolescents, and the cpacity building of nurses and midwives. ARC will enhance the capacity of national nursing leaders and other health professions to improve the prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT) Option B+ services and pediatric HIV coverage. Key activities include: 1) site based quality improvement grants for nursing and midwifery leadership teams to enhance the quality of nursing HIV care; 2)regional nursing and midwifery meetings to foster cross country collaboration on emerging policies, formative research and operational challenges; 3)technical assistance to advance countries facility based, clinical quality improvement activities and national level policy and regulation; 4) review, revision and advancement of key policies to support the scale up of antiretroviral therapy (ART) at priority haelth facilities, including test and start; 5)training and edication to improve the quality of PMTCT B+ services and pediatric HIV nursing care; 6) collaborations with other health professions, such as laboratorians to improve the quality of HIV service delivery such as viral load diagnosis and interpretation. This amendment is for informational purposes only. CDC is not accepting new applications for award. The purpose of this amendment is to include language regarding HIV epidemic control under d. Other National Public Health Priorities and Strategies.
