About this opportunity

: The Urban Archeology Corps at RICH provides youth with an immersive experience in archeology and cultural resource stewardship. The UACâ¿¿s principal purpose is to support the Governmentâ¿¿s objective to provide work opportunities for youth in National Parks. Youth employed in the UAC by Groundwork RVA gain hands-on experience in archeological and cultural resource projects by working with a variety of NPS divisions. Products created by the UAC will be shared through community events and social media to increase public support for archeological resources and stewardship of the nationâ¿¿s cultural and historical heritage. The UAC engages partners and communities in the shared environmental stewardship of archeological resources. It promotes greater public and private participation in archeology while building resource stewardship ethics in youth. The project motivates its youth participants to become involved in the archeological protection of their communities and beyond. As a result, the UAC assists in the , and/or improvement of the publicâ¿¿s understanding of archeology and public lands as they relate to urban communities.
