About this opportunity

The Department of State Bureau of East Asia Pacific Affairs (EAP) announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for a project to promote women's entrepreneurship, as part of the Lower Mekong Initiative. The grantee will establish a physical women's entrepreneurial center in Vientiane, Laos. The Center will provide a safe space for female would-be entrepreneurs and business owners from the formal and informal sectors to receive training, access resources, and connect to a local network of mentors that can provide them real-time, tailored feedback. The Center will offer women business owners and prospective entrepreneurs ongoing the environment needed to transform their businesses, and in turn create jobs and strengthen local and national economies to provide resources to overcome the challenges women business-owners face. Although the center will be based in Vientiane, the programs at the Center could incorporate women entrepreneurs from other parts of Laos. The authority for this funding opportunity is found in the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961, as amended (FAA) and the source of funding is FY2015 Economic Support Funds.
