About this opportunity

This project will fund Siskiyou County Dept. of Agriculture to chemically treat 55 acres of invasive weeds at Yreka phlox populations and 38 acres at Siskiyou mariposa lily populations. Due to the nearly year-round germination of dyer’s woad from the seedbed and the threat of encroachment from adjacent lands, long-term treatment is necessary to protect the habitats of these protected plants. This agreement will provide funding for weed surveys and treatment on private lands in and around know populations of these plants. At each population area, private lands will be “worked” or surveyed at least twice each year for the presence of dyer’s woad. Identified plants will be controlled by chemical spot treatment, or hand pulling if within the designated buffer zone adjacent to the known populations, two to three times per year.
